Reading with Bob

Hello,

Today Bob and I read from a book that my mother recommended to me and I thought Bob might enjoy. It is called Cutting for Stone. We read the beginning that told the story of a nun who is also a nurse who traveled from India to Africa on her first assignment. Bob seemed to really enjoy hearing the story and having the sunlight streaming in on this lovely Spring morning. Hopefully he and I can continue with more of the story or I can at least keep him up to date about the plot as I read it. Have a wonderful afternoon!

Chocolate Orange Mousse

Hi everyone,
To make sure we had enough food to hibernate through the coming snow fall we decided to try out a new desert. Georgie, Nora, and I spent sometime sifting through online recipe sites until we found a recipe we could all agree on. The recipe was one for chocolate orange mousse.

While I mixed the ingredients of zested orange, semisweet chocolate bits, orange juice, sugar and a host of other ingredients, Georgie and Nora sipped tea and enjoyed the music of the Andrew Sisters. They became a little more focused on the task at hand when the mousse was poured into individual dishes. Unfortunately, the recipe also calls for the mousse to sit for at least four hours so no tasting was allowed yet. Hopefully, it makes a good after dinner snack as we will also add whipped cream and a slice of orange for garnish.

Have a great day,
Matt

Baking For Valentine’s Day

Today Nora and I made Chocolate Saltine Toffee bars in celebration of Valentine’s Day tomorrow! We had the recipe printed off and mixed all the ingredients together. It was a fun, simple recipe, and Nora seemed to enjoy dumping all the ingredients into the pot. She especially enjoyed eating our finished project as dessert tonight for dinner!

Happy Valentines Day,

Bingo!

Hello All,
The ladies played bingo this afternoon! Everyone got a turn to call out the numbers and everyone also won at least one round! We all laughed when the staff forgot to close the door on the bingo ball cage and there were bingo balls all over the table! We had a really fun afternoon. Enjoy the picture!

Blanket Making

Hello all,

Today Nora and I took advantage of the sunny weather and took a stroll outside. We were suprised to see that the flowers looked heathly still despite the cooler temperatures we’ve been having. I also went to the store today to pick out some fabric to help make Nora a new fleece-tied blanket. We got a good start on it, but we still have a ways to go!

Have a nice evening,

Tic Tac Toe

Nora played floor tic-tac-toe this afternoon. She was very skillful in tossing the beanbags and thought she improved a lot with practice. When she won the first round, she declared that it was a good game. It was a perfect rainy-day game!

Family Photos

Today Georgie and I looked at her facebook page and the many family photos on it. Georgie smiled and laughed while viewing the photos. She LOVED the pictures from Mother’s Day with the kids, Grand kids, Great Grandkids and Art. She also liked reading the photo comments from Tatum’s wedding and seeing Art in a tux. Here is a photo of Georgie and I looking at the pictures on the computer. Hope you’re all having a great day, Matt

Summer Walk

Hello!

Today Nora and I went on a lovely walk around the neighborhood. During our walk we talked about gardening and Nora’s recent haircut. We had a wonderful conversation and she had an enjoyable time. When we returned we sat outside in the shade and visited.

Jewelry Making

Hello,
Today Georgie had a great time making a necklace with staff. We chatted and sang along to Frank Sinatra. Georgie knew all the words. She liked the necklace so much she wanted to wear right away.

Enjoy,
Stephanie
